BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The 5K (3.1 mile) course will include 18 plus obstacles.  The course will have military style obstacles for

runners 12 years and older.  The course will include: Igloo crawl – crawl through igloo tunnels; Sea Lion

Slide – a 30’ foam slide; Iditarod Pull –sled pull; Yukon Mud Pits; Mount Summit; Glacier Bay Dash;

Snow Tire Monster; Penguin Shuffle, and much more! Runners under the age of 18 must

provide waiver signed by parent or legal guardian and be accompanied by an adult during the entire

challenge.

KIDS FUN RUN

There will be 1K run with a small mud pit, a slide, a mini sled pull and an igloo tunnel. Fun run is for kids 12 & under. It will begin right after adult run.

OBSTACLES

There will be 18 or more obstacles to overcome on the 3.1 mile course, many of which contain water or mud.  These obstacles will require a certain level of strength or fitness. The potential exists for serious injury or death due to falls, trips and crawling. Obstacles can be taken at any pace or skipped completely if the runner feels unsafe attempting the challenge. If at any time, event race staff should determine that a race participant’s behavior is dangerous to themselves or others they will be removed from that obstacle and perhaps the course. Please understand your abilities and consult a physician prior to attempting this race.

Individual runners are welcome.  If you are registering as a Team – you’ll need to decide on a Team Name, preferred Race ‘Wave’ Time and have t-shirt sizes before beginning the registration process.  Teams should be easily identifiable to be eligible for team category prizes.

WAIVER

To expedite Check-In, it is recommended that participants complete and sign the waiver prior to arrival.  Runners will receive their race number and event bag once the waiver has been collected. Adults must present a valid ID.

Runners under the age of 18 must have waiver signed by his/her parent or legal guardian and must be accompanied by an adult during the entire challenge.

RACE DAY check in

As you enter HLCCC – you will be directed to designated parking and to the event check in station.  Plan to arrive 45 minutes prior to the assigned race wave time.

At the event finish line, rinse off showers will be provided for runners.

ATTIRE

All attire must be appropriately modest for a family event.  Race wear should be appropriate for rough, rocky terrain as well as mud and water obstacles.  Extreme temperatures may be encountered as this is Polar Bear Country.  Expect everything you wear to be covered with mud and water by the end of the race.  Combat type boots that cover the ankle are suggested as well as utility type pants.
